With the same ‘drive to thrive’ that propelled me into faith, I find joy partnering with people who, while doing their best in life and relationships, may also be stuck, overwhelmed, bewildered, or devastated by some of the results. I know that seeking counseling is a step of courage on a new adventure. I look for a person’s true colors, as we develop a strong, effective therapeutic partnership, a proven foundation of healing, growth, and gaining the confidence to let those colors shine. My life is evidence that “The best of life is yet to be, the last of life for which the first was made”(Robert Browning). I welcome you, skilled survivor, to renew your journey to thrive.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
I received my Masters in Counseling, Clinical Mental Health, from Antioch University Seattle, a school rooted in Christian principles and a program emphasizing diversity and practical experience. My BA from Western Washington University’s Fairhaven College of Interdisciplinary Studies merged parts of myself developed in past studies, community programs, ministry projects, business environments, and challenging life experiences.
Clinical work has been primarily with diverse genders of adults from 20 to 70 in community mental health, people with the usual challenges of life on top of histories of trauma. Other populations served are: spiritual counseling with ministry workers from 20-80, committee and business work primarily with adult men, dog training with families and groups; and creativity based expressive work using fine arts, crafts, poetry, dream interpretation and journalling. I have also done research on the human-canine bond: in training attunement, attachment, working partnerships, non-verbal communication, trauma rehabilitation, animal assisted therapy, and service dog handlers and their dogs.

ABOUT ME
Raised in a military family and married for 30 years to an entrepreneur, I am grateful to be settled in the PNW. COVID added to my family life regular Zooms with siblings, their families, a few close friends, a small group at my local church, some colleagues in academe and the counseling profession, and those w/ whom I do dream interpretation. I choose simple pleasures at home, indoors and out, especially with my Samoyeds. Quiet time includes coloring for mindfulness, dream interpretation for depth, reading for pleasure, video for escape, music for inspiration, and daily contemplative connection with the God I know and love.
