Bo Yoon
I believe that all people are capable of positive change and that we have limitless potentials, if we are given adequate support and the right resources. I trust that people have a desire to belong in a community and to cultivate meaningful relationships. We are not meant to walk alone. I am here to walk alongside you, through your pain and struggles, and in your joys and celebrations. In the counseling space, I provide a warm and empathic presence in a safe space, where we can work collaboratively on the goals and concerns you bring to therapy. I work with adolescents (ages 13+), adults, women, members of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and LGBTQ+ communities, and adult children of immigrants to the U.S.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
I received my Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwest University. Prior to that, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology from University of Washington. I previously worked as a molecular biologist and immunologist for 18+ years, which has helped me as a counselor to understand and provide evidence-based therapeutic approaches. I embarked upon a second career as a mental health counselor, because I am drawn to people’s stories, and I want to help people make positive change in their life. I have experience working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, specific phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), relational/interpersonal difficulties, and trauma. I am bilingual in Korean and English, and I have a desire to work with clients who are adult children of immigrants, adjusting to the cultural nuances of life in the U.S.
I use a person-centered approach to counseling, and the therapeutic modalities I practice are informed by Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). In our counseling sessions, we will explore your goals and your concerns, through the lens of your thoughts/beliefs, emotions, cultural considerations, and your life experiences. I want to partner with you to achieve your goals for counseling, working together to bring wholeness and well-being to your daily life through a holistic approach; that is, the well-being of your physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual health. If you would like to integrate counseling with faith, I feel confident that we can do that together in the counseling space in a manner that feels authentic and meaningful to you.

ABOUT ME
I am married to my wonderful husband, Brian, and a mama to two teenage boys and two exuberant and sweet dogs. I love spending time with my family, enjoying the outdoors (i.e., running, hiking, walking my pups, and biking), reading, making greeting cards, and eating delectable foods. My family and I attend a small church in Seattle, where we have been members for the past 24 years. I have had the privilege of growing up in the greater Seattle area since first grade, and I love living in the Pacific Northwest. I consider my job as a counselor to be a calling, and I am honored and blessed to work with my clients. God calls us to be relational people. My family’s motto is to love God, love our neighbors, and to be productive members of society. These are my life’s values. My faith is the driving force in my life. These values succinctly capture how I want to live and present myself in this world. I want my love for God and my love for people to flow through and from me.
